While we’ve always loved being a part of the Northwest Arkansas community here at Lewis Automotive Farmington, there’s so much more to see in the state of Arkansas than just the sights here in the city of Farmington!  While we still love being able to take advantage of the free time that summer brings with quick trips around NWA in a new 2022 Jeep Cherokee, or loading up the bed of your RAM 1500 pickup for longer day trips down to local places like Devil’s Den State Park down by Winslow, AR, we didn’t want to leave out any suggestions for other attractions in the Natural State that are worth the trip as well!  Here’s a few cities in Arkansas we know our team loves to visit when they’re not on the lot showing off the latest 2022 Dodge Challenger for sale.

Hot Springs, AR - Just outside Little Rock, AR, the steaming natural thermal baths that come from the underground springs in the Ouachita Mountains are a world-renowned tourist attraction in their own right.  Hot Springs National Park takes up the north end of the city of Hot Springs, and helps to preserve historical places like Bathhouse Row.  Here you can spend the night in places like Arlington Resort Hotel and Spa, a steaming bathhouse that’s a relaxing little piece of Arkansas history.  You can also make a stop at the Fordyce Bathhouse Visitor Center when you get to the park, or take in the rest of the attractions in the Hot Springs area like the creative culture and lush woodlands.

2 7-22 post El Dorado.jpg

El Dorado, AR - If you’re looking for a town that’s FULL of historic culture in Arkansas, the city of El Dorado, AR does not disappoint.  Established during an oil boom in the 1920’s, this Arkansas destination has retained its legacy through the last century, with a recent refresh of their historic downtown that has made this a fantastic Arkansas tourist stop.  The 1928 Union County Courthouse is at the center of their vibrant historic district, with a whole list of delicious local restaurants and modern storefronts surrounding it.  For the art buffs, the Murphy Art District campus features live music, more notable restaurants, and other artistic venues.

3 7-22 post Van Buren.jpg

Van Buren, AR - Less than five miles away from Fort Smith, AR, this city in Western Arkansas right by the Oklahoma state border is perfect for packing up your Jeep Grand Cherokee L SUV for a weekend getaway.  You’ll want to head to historic downtown Van Buren, AR to take in the antique shops, exclusive art displays, downtown storefronts, and local restaurants and entertainment venues all packed into the six block downtown area.  If you’re a hiking enthusiast, you can head to Lee Creek Park, filled with hiking trails to take in the natural Arkansas beauty and access to the Arkansas River.

For those wanting to stay closer to home here in Northwest Arkansas, don’t forget that there’s a whole list of places to visit here in this corner of our Natural State, just down the road from Lewis Used Cars in Farmington, AR.  Whether it’s the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, AR (or the Amazeum Children’s Museum for the kids), the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks in Fayetteville, AR, or downtown Eureka Springs, AR, which is on the National Register of Historic Places and packed full of modern restaurants and boutique shopping, there’s no shortage of amazing experiences to have here in our own little corner of the state.
